February 16, 2011 All fourth-grade students at TiZA’s Inver Grove Heights campus recently participated in the National Assessment for Educational Progress testing program, which is also commonly known as “The Nation’s Report Card.” “At TiZA we seek to present Minnesota education as one of the top in the country,” said Dr. Mahrous Kandil, TiZA board chair and campus director for the school, Blaine Campus. “We are happy that we have been selected to be part of NAEP testing. We welcomed the opportunity and supported NAEP in their efforts.” The national organization tests students all over the country on subject-matter achievement, instructional experiences, and school environment, and provides representative samples of students and long-term assessments in an effort to improve education. TiZA’s Inver Grove Heights campus was randomly selected by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) at the U.S. Department of Education to participate in this testing program. NAEP is the only common assessment taken by students nationwide. Results are reported for student populations, and for subgroups of those populations, at the national and state levels. NAEP does not report any individual student test results. “As part of the education system in Minnesota, TiZA hopes our students will help tell the story about education not in individual schools, but the state in general,” said Kandil. “This is very important for education in Minnesota. We were happy that we were selected to be part of the NAEP testing and help education in the state of Minnesota.” |
